BIM Workshop, AEC Digitalization & Carbon Accountability, 03 June 2025

Today, I was engaged with Engineers and Architects who attended the seminar and workshop “BEYOND BIM – Building Information Modelling (BIM) Contribution to the Development of Indonesia New Capital City – Stage 2” organized by Civil Engineering College The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (BKS PII) in collaboration with Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) Chapter South Sulawesi and Engineering Faculty of UNHAS which is held at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) Engineering Faculty, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

I was also asked to deliver the welcoming speech on behalf of Chairman of BKS PII. BKS PII plans to disseminate the use of BIM by establishing the BIM Centre in our BKS PII office and will engage several universities such as ITB, UNUD and UNHAS. This program is also supported by CYPE, one of the leading BIM software companies from Spain.

Additionally, I was also presenting the Future-ready Engineering: AEC Digitalization & Carbon Accountability. I strongly recommended the use of BIM integrated with LCA tools with the objectives are to interpret and apply carbon data, optimise designs for embodied and operational carbon and integrate carbon performance targets into specification which all possible now to be done with BIM application.

Last but not least, to conclude my presentation, there are 4 engineers’ future-ready competencies: Digital Proficiency, Sustainability and Carbon Literacy, Ethical and Regulatory Awareness and Communication and Interdisciplinary Collaboration.
